Thai Street Kitchen Goes Green: Be the Change and Protect Our Planet

By November 2, 2018February 2nd, 2023eco-friendly, Healthy Living, Thai Food

According to recent environmental pollution surveys over the past decade, there has been an increasing public concern over the adverse effects of pollution on the environment and human health. Food delivery is a $43+ billion dollar business in the US, and accounts for 30% of all waste generated according to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).

Even if you’re one of the select few who enjoy trying your hand at a home cooked meal, sometimes takeout or delivery is exactly what you’re craving. After a long day’s work, school, and extracurricular activities, having someone else handle the dinnertime chaos is pure bliss.

At Thai Street Kitchen, we like to deliver not only great Thai favorites but convenience too!

However, the use of single serve and single use packing has created an ever increasingly high amount of greenhouse gas emissions for our plant. While takeout can be convenient, it also delivers a lot of waste: handfuls of napkins, soy sauces, plastic wear, and bags, just to name a few. These extras can quickly add up and pile up excessively in our landfills causing great concern for the future of our planet.

Be the Change – Help Thai Street Kitchen Go Green

Along with using only the best ingredients, cage free eggs, all-natural meats with no added hormones, organic tofu, non-GMO rice bran oil, free of MSG, artificial colors and flavors, we are also committed to doing our part to reduce landfill waste and keep our planet clean.

We are in the process of converting to biodegradable and eco-friendly takeout items. Furthermore, we will only be providing plastic utensils, straws, and napkins upon request.

Help Us Be the Change and Protect the Planet

It is no secret we live in a consumer driven society, but our decision to use sustainable disposable products will hopefully aid in the change.

We have eliminated Styrofoam and polystyrene. The new takeout items are made from either biodegradable plant fiber (sugarcane), eco-friendly paper cups and containers, or recyclable plastics. The biodegradable products are made using a chemical-free pulping process, which saves energy and water. They are 100% compostable and high quality.

After careful consideration, we at Thai Street Kitchen are sure you will be as happy as we are with the environmentally friendly practices we are committed to following.

Come see for yourself – together we can make the earth a cleaner place.
